Researchers in China have developed a test that identifies cancers up to four years before signs appear. The test, called PanSeer, is non-invasive and detects cancer in 95% of individuals who have no symptoms but later receive a diagnosis.
The team wrote in the journal of Nature Communications: “We demonstrated that five types of cancer can be detected through a DNA methylation-based blood test up to four years before conventional diagnosis."
They said the test picks up on cancerous growths that have not yet caused symptoms or been spotted by other methods, rather than predicting cancer.
